Gadgeteers to lead winter reading challenge

A free digital platform is encouraging children to keep reading during the winter holidays, offering rewards and prizes.

The Reading Agency and the Science Museum Group are behind the Winter Mini Challenge, which has been launched following the success of a similar initiative during the summer.

The platform is themed around six fictional “Gadgeteers”, who encourage pupils to take part in challenges and activities.

The characters have been brought to life by children’s writer and illustrator Julian Beresford and use their curiosity and wonder to understand the science behind different interests, such as fashion, technology, cooking and music.

The challenge includes activity ideas and resources from Science Museum Group aimed at sparking children’s curiosity about the world around them and inspiring them through creativity and invention.
