Our expert panel reflect on their general tenets of good CPD, before discussing what an effective CPD programme or cycle looks like and giving examples from their respective schools.

Other themes include teachers leading their own CPD, research-driven CPD, how to ensure CPD is focused on pupil outcomes, getting buy-in from staff, evaluating the impact, including support staff, and more.

  • Robbie Burns is a teacher and assistant vice-principal for teaching and learning at Bede Academy in Northumberland.
  • Concettina Johnson is a qualified teacher for over 10 years with leadership experience in both the primary and secondary environment. Concettina was also part of delivering the Excellence Hub Programme for the Teacher Development Trust.
  • Sharon Ealing is a lead practitioner at Coleshill Heath Primary School in Solihull, alongside her role as a Teacher Development Trust Expert Advisor.
