Football maths and spelling resources prove a lockdown hit

Free education resources supported by 110 professional football clubs have been downloaded more than 20,000 during the Covid-19 lockdown – and are still available.

The most popular resource – a maths and spelling game called Solve, Shoot, Score – features animations of Premier League footballers and has had more than 31,000 plays.

The resources have been created by the Premier League Primary Stars initiative and are available on its home-learning hub. The curriculum-linked resources include spelling challenges, maths puzzles as well as football exercises.

There are also Family Challenges, which aim to get families and schools involved in football-related activities which can be done at home or at school. These will continue for the rest of the academic year.

And recently Dan Freedman, the author of the Jamie Johnson football novels, has challenged children to create their own fictional character that could be part of a football-themed story. There is a free activity pack offering tips and ideas to get started.
