The education charity SHINE offers funding for teachers via its Let Teachers Shine competition. It also offers funding for schools to support the creation of specific programmes or projects.
The Let Teachers SHINE competition is open to any qualified, practising teacher working in England. The idea is to support teachers to help them develop their ideas to boost the attainment of children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Let Teachers SHINE offers grants of up to £25,000 over two years for teacher-led projects that support disadvantaged children in the North of England to succeed in English, maths or science.
Previous winners of the award have included Bruno Reddy for Times Tables RockStars and Colin Hegarty for Hegarty Maths.
The deadline for the current competition round is midnight on January 11.
Meanwhile, for schools, the charity offers funding for school-led projects that make a difference to the attainment of children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the North of England. The grants are for programmes run by schools and multi-academy trusts that meet the charity’s three current priorities.

- Bridging the Gap: Projects that help children who need extra support at school to thrive when they move from primary to secondary school.
- Flying High: Projects that help children who do well at primary school to stay on the path to success as they move to secondary.
