Support for outdoor lessons post-June 1

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom is bringing together a consortium of outdoor learning organisations to help support schools if and when they re-open from June 1.

Under current government plans, primary schools are to be asked to re-open for pupils in Reception, year 1 and year 6 from June 1.

Current Department for Education (DfE) guidance on protective measures that schools can take recommends adjusting timetables to decrease the movement of pupils around the school and considering how outdoor space can be used as much as possible for lessons and exercise.

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom has approached the DfE with an offer of support for schools.

Its consortium features a wide range of organisations, including Learning through Landscapes, the Outdoor Council, the Scouts, and Girl Guiding UK.
