Access All Arts Week

Plans for the first ever Access All Arts week, a new nationwide arts event for primary schools, have been unveiled.

Organised by Sky Arts, the inaugural week will take place on June 6 to 10, 2022, when a learning programme will be available for primary school teachers in the UK and Ireland.

The aim is to celebrate the arts, highlighting their importance in supporting the health and wellbeing of young people.

The free, ready-made learning materials will explore all art-forms via a dedicated website, including activities, video content and competitions. Schools will also be able to use the website to connect with local arts organisations.

Teachers will have access to five modules built around five forms of artistic expression: sounds, marks, words, images, and moves. Each module contains two different art-forms:

  • Singing and instruments (sounds).
  • 2D mark-making such as drawing, illustration, and 3D mark-making such as crafts, sculpture (marks).
  • Poetry and storytelling (words).
  • Photography and film-making (images).
  • Movement and drama (moves).

Access All Arts week will feature well-known artists alongside key organisations including English National Opera, the National Theatre, Into Film and others.

Content will be made available in the resource centre on the website from January 2022 with all five modules being available before the Easter holidays. After June 2022 the website will remain live as a resource for teachers.
