Roadwise

With more than 45 children injured on the road every day in the UK, what can teachers do to help every child in the school be safer and wiser on the road?

Feeling helpless and wondering if the school could do more? Or perhaps thinking “it will never happen to one of our pupils”?

With more than 45 children injured on the road every day in the UK, what can teachers do to help every child in the school be safer and wiser on the road?

The 5alive Roadwise Primary Schools Project equips teachers with the tools and resources they require to deliver road-safety education to each year in school.

The project was a finalist in the Education Resources Awards 2015 – the very first time a road safety resource had ever featured in those awards.

Each booklet can be used year after year and contains four workshops for each year group (content-appropriate, covering ages three to 11). The workshops tackle: Awareness and Knowledge of Traffic and its Environment; A Safe Strategy for Crossing the Road; Visibility; and an Understanding of Signs and Symbols.

Additional lessons, photocopiable resources, videos, PowerPoints, songs and bookmarks are included.

The project provides a sound base for road safety education in schools as it is a comprehensive, well-planned and resourced road-user curriculum for the whole school. Let us help your teachers to help children in school to be wiser and safer on the road.
