STEM lesson materials and inspiration

The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) offers a range of STEM teaching resources and lesson ideas aimed at pupils aged five to 11.

The free resources and activities include lesson plans, handouts, posters, experiments, and film clips.

Resources are searchable by key stage and are also grouped into common themes. These include:

Other resources focus on events like Christmas and Easter and materials are also grouped by subject. Teachers can download classroom powers and certificates, too.

The webpages also include links to the First LEGO league for primary schools (a STEM programme for six to nine-year-olds) and Virtual Faraday Challenges, which get pupils aged seven and over tackling real-world problems.

Finally, teachers can also use the website to invite an engineer STEM Ambassador to visit their school to support lesson or careers-related activities.
