Educational Play Environments recently created a surprise for the pupils at Ashford Park Primary School. Primary school places in Surrey are in high demand and Spelthorne Borough is an area that has experienced a significant increase in pupil numbers, particularly in the Ashford and Staines conurbations. As such, Ashford Park Primary School is expanding from 2 to 3 forms of entry. This will increase the total capacity of the school from 420 to 630 pupils.

In preparation for this, over the summer, Educational Play Environments installed a brand new Adventure Trail Configuration along with a Forest Climber 2. The new equipment will help get pupils physically active and achieve their recommended five hours of PE and School Sport each week.

We recently had the chance to catch up with Sarah Tarrant, headteacher at Ashford Park Primary:

What were the reasons for developing your outdoor space?

"Our old fitness trail had been removed and we wanted to replace it with quality equipment that would provide challenge."

What were your main reasons for working with Educational Play Environments?

We wanted to work with a local company who had provided fitness equipment to local schools.

Please sum up your overall experience with Educational Play Environments and let us know how you feel about your new play area.

Adam has been superb, in that he has been patient and worked with the school and Surrey CC with risk assessments and planning questions, always providing a fast response to any questions raised. An extremely professional colleague accompanied him. The gentlemen who installed the equipment worked incredibly long hours and were neat and tidy with the installation, even though this took longer than they had anticipated. The safety-flooring people were pleasant and completed the work to a high standard. 10/10 Excellent!

Educational Play Environments believe that utilising the outdoors as an extension of the classroom and creating an environment in which children can play and learn together or independently can significantly benefit their physical and mental ability, health and their social interaction.
