CAPE (Children of Alcoholic Parents Engagement) provides free online resources and toolkits as well as workshops and training to frontline professionals who work with young people.
It will support NHS and school staff, social workers, police, and youth workers to increase their awareness and understanding of the challenges these children face and help them to identify those who are at risk.
In the UK, it is estimated that 2.6 million children are living with parents who are drinking “hazardously”. Children who see their parents drunk are more than twice as likely to get drunk themselves, according to 2011 research by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
