A guide has been published to help schools reduce and tackle prejudice.

The resource, Equality: Making it happen, has been produced by the Centre for Studies on Inclusive Education (CSIE) in response to calls for succinct and user-friendly advice on tackling prejudice and reducing bullying in schools.

The guidance has been developed with schools and sponsored by NASUWT.

Succinct reference cards help schools to promote equality holistically by offering:

  • Key information.
  • Practical advice and suggested activities.
  • Examples of good practice.
  • Equality monitoring tools.
  • Sources of further information and support.

CSIE director Artemi Sakellariadis said: “Equality: Making It Happen bridges the gap between too little and too much information. We know of no other initiative addressing all aspects of equality in schools in such an effective and user-friendly way.”

The NASUWT’s general secretary Chris Keates added: “We have a long history of campaigning for equality and we are delighted to be supporting this initiative. Teachers, school leaders and governors will find this an invaluable ‘go-to’ resource which provides clear information and practical advice and guidance for promoting equality and tackling discrimination in schools and colleges – I commend this resource to them.”
