At Into Film we have a varied programme of online and face to face training sessions to help you use film confidently and effectively to support learning across the curriculum.
Whether or not you’ve used film before we can offer the training and support you need. In the past 18 months, Into Film has trained over 20,000 educators, inspiring them to use film across all aspects of the curriculum.
“A fantastic training event opening up so many possibilities for enhancing literacy and other curriculum areas. Highly recommended.” Yvonne, Into Film Training Participant
This autumn term sees Into Film present three stimulating CPD sessions that make up part of our UK-wide training offer:
- Raising Literacy Through Film
- Get Into Filmmaking
- Getting the Most out of Your Film Club
Our ever-popular Raising Literacy Through Film will show you how to help students analyse film, with a focus on core literacy skills such as decoding, inference and deduction. Using film as a text supports comprehension and allows pupils to develop oracy, listening and creative writing skills, through discussing what they have seen and heard, with the benefit that film is accessible to all learners regardless of their stage of learning.
"From our observations and discussions with teachers and young people, it is absolutely clear that film helps to engage all young people in the class. Teachers felt that film played an important role in acting as a ‘leveller’. Unlike reading or listening activities, film-based activities allow every young person in the room to take part on an equal footing." Media Literacy Project, Trilein Evaluation Report
Our Get Into Filmmaking courses will give you the confidence to use filmmaking as a tool for learning and assessment. You'll develop a range of practical skills to help young people tell stories, work in teams, improve their time management skills and use creativity to solve problems.
Filmmaking provides outstanding opportunities to promote active learning and help raise educational achievement across the entire curriculum. It utilises a multi-sensory approach that speaks to all learning styles, and helps pupils to demonstrate their understanding of curricular subjects and real-life events.
Finally, join like-minded teachers who run an Into Film Club or are looking to start one in our short informal Getting the Most out of Your Into Film Club workshops. Packed with ideas, activities and networking opportunities, these sessions will identify the many different contexts within which Into Film Clubs can flourish. This session is free to attend, but for other training sessions a £15 administration charge may apply.
