A new term is upon us and added to our priorities this year is the vital need for us to respond to the racism and hate that drove this summer’s riots.

It has been harrowing to see lawlessness, Islamophobia and racism take hold in towns and cities across the UK. The far-right riots and the open displays of hate (it is still hate even if it is dressed up as fear) will have had a direct impact on our children, families, and communities.

Children will no doubt have seen the riots on the news – including unfiltered images on social media – and heard the misinformation being shared.
