Livestream Vikings into your classroom

The world of the Vikings is to be brought to life in a series of online live-streams taking place from February 6 to 10.

The Jorvik Viking Centre will be hosting a number of sessions aimed at primary-age pupils – especially key stage 2 children.

Every day during the week, experts from the Viking Centre will host live-streams covering different topics and designed to encourage critical-thinking. The free workshops will be supported by worksheets and activities focused on Norse history.

The week is part of the Viking Centre’s wider educational programme, which includes visits to the centre itself which is located on the site of an archaeological dig which revealed preserved remains of Viking homes and backyards in the Coppergate area of York.

The centre also offers virtual outreach sessions – online sessions where a Viking talks to children live in their classroom – for schools that cannot make it all the way to York.
