Once a Week Take a Peek Campaign

Help your parents and carers to tackle headlice with the return of the Once a Week Take a Peek Campaign

As headlice make their comeback, experts at Hedrin are on hand to offer support to parents and carers via schools, all for free.

Developed by Hedrin in association with the Medical Entomology centre, the Once a Week Take a Peek guidance has been created as a way for schools to support parents in dealing with headlice outbreaks.

It aims to educate parents on the facts and myths surrounding headlice, as well as best practice tips and advice for how to check for and treat them if found. The campaign has been running for 10 years but has recently undergone a transformation to modernise the look and feel and make it easier for schools to get involved.

A recent study by Hedrin, conducted in association with in Opinium, revealed that more than half of parents would panic at the sight of headlice, while the thought of dealing with them made a quarter feel anxious.

There are also some parents who routinely keep their children out of school if they have headlice for fear of embarrassment or because they believe an infestation is a health risk.

Armed with up-to-date guidance, a sleek new design and easy to share materials, this campaign provides everything your school needs to reassure and support parents in their fight against headlice.

By educating parents and encouraging them to check for headlice regularly, we can reduce absenteeism and limit the number of outbreaks in your school.
