Published by NSPCC Learning with support from the PSHE Association, the updates include a presentation of the “Underwear Rule” to use with children aged 3 to 5.
The resources include lesson plans, classroom activities, slide presentations and teaching guidance. They all help teaching staff and parents to “talk PANTS with children” without having to use scary language or without mentioning sex.
Developed with children, parents, carers and teachers, the PANTS initiative helps children understand that their body belongs to them, that they have a right to say no, and that they should tell a safe adult they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.
The resources are based around the PANTS rules:
- Privates are private
- Always remember your body belongs to you
- No means no
- Talk about secrets that upset you
- Speak up – someone can help
The resources have been awarded the PSHE Association’s Quality Mark, which recognises safe and effective practice.
The NSPCC offers PANTS resources for children aged up to 11 as well as resources tailored for use with children who have SEND and links to the relevant curriculum areas in each of the four nations.
