Writing competition: My Twist on a Tale

A writing competition encouraging pupils to create tales based on their “everyday heroes” has been launched, with the winning entries set to be published in a book.

The My Twist on a Tale challenge is open to pupils aged four to 19 and offers a range of free downloadable resources for schools.

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the theme could inspire pupils to write about key workers, heroes in their local communities, campaigners or family members, or even a hero from their imagination.

Winners from across the UK and across the different key stages will see their work published as a collection of short stories by the organisers Pearson.

To help children write their stories, Pearson is providing free access to a variety of downloadable stories and resources, including writing tips for primary and secondary students.
