A series of a free lesson plans featuring characters from the Beano has been launched to help primary schools tackle issues of mental health and wellbeing.

Beano Studios and mental health charity YoungMinds have issued 11 “Bouncebackability” lesson plans, which are curriculum-linked to key stage 1 and 2 PSHE and curricula in Wales and Scotland. They cover topics including understanding emotions, being brave, stress and change and mobile phone use.

They feature Beano characters including Dennis, Gnasher and Minnie and aim to equip pupils with the “superpower of resilience”.

It comes after the Beano’s “SPAG LOLZ” programme, which is still free to download, used joke-writing techniques taught through spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG) lessons.
