Headteacher Update's latest best practice conference offers practical advice and ideas to ensure effective inclusion and SEND support in the mainstream classroom – and the early bird offer ends this week!

The SEND & Inclusion in the mainstream classroom conference will support teachers, school leaders and SENCOs with inclusive practice.

Taking place on Friday, November 25, in Birmingham the event features keynote presentations from Jean Gross CBE and Dr Pooky Knightsmith.

A further 12 practical workshops will offer advice and ideas for how mainstream teachers can ensure SEND students are fully engaged and supported in the classroom. The event, which is relevant to both primary and secondary colleagues, will also offer general advice for effective whole-school inclusive practice.

There are sessions addressing specific types of need such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, DCD, SEMH, and behavioural needs.

It will also offer advice to support SENCOs with their practice, plus tips to help SENCOs prepare for Ofsted inspection.

Relevant to all staff involved with delivering teaching and learning in schools, as well as SENCOs, pastoral staff, and others, all sessions and workshops will offer practical examples, insights and case studies to inspire, with many strategies for you to implement and adapt for your school’s circumstances.

The 14 conference sessions are:

  • Ten ideas to enable SEN learners to flourish
  • What does high-quality inclusive teaching look like?
