Research travel grants

Overseas research grants are being made available to support new ideas in UK education.

This year, the Churchill Fellowships will include a special category devoted to education.

The Fellowships are travel grants that fund individuals to research innovative ideas and best practice overseas, then bring their insights back to the UK.

Fellowships are available in 12 fields, now including education. Applications are particularly welcome from those who work with vulnerable children in schools (including teachers, support staff and pastoral roles).

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, which runs the Fellowships, is also interested in projects that encourage the recruitment and retention of teachers through improving professional motivation and development.

Churchill Fellows are funded to research new ideas overseas for four to eight weeks. For examples of past Fellows’ work or application details, see online. The deadline is September 18.
