
Children enjoy drama. In fact, there are few who are not excited by the opportunity to move around, role-play and act.
There is nothing like moving the chairs and tables back in a lesson or invading an open area. From working co-operatively to empathising with characters, from visualising consequences, or bringing curriculum learning to life – drama has much to offer in the classroom and across the school.
1, Whole-school planning
Senior leaders should consider their school’s curriculum and whether it offers opportunities for teachers to get creative with drama. For example, is there chance for pupils to work on a script and do teachers have the freedom to introduce a variety of different theatrical forms?
